Reuf Sipović live — Sevdah | Unplugged
Introduction
Reuf Sipović live presents Sevdah | Unplugged, an intimate acoustic trio performance that brings the depth of Bosnian Sevdah into a clear and contemporary sound world. The re‑compositions and arrangements originate from Reuf Sipović, who reshapes traditional material into new musical forms. Yet the music reveals its full emotional and atmospheric richness only through the shared expression of the trio. Together with Željka Antelj and Adam Weisman, he creates a musical space defined by warmth, nuance and close interplay — a sound that feels immediate, open and deeply connected.
Musical Concept
The repertoire originates from the Sevdah Reloaded project — a large‑scale ensemble of ten musicians — and is reimagined here in a stripped‑back trio format. Reuf’s re‑compositions and arrangements transform the original material, distilling the richness of the full ensemble into new acoustic narratives. This setting creates space: each instrument breathes, every line has room, and every gesture carries weight. Guitar, voice and percussion intertwine into an open, transparent sound that blends the traditional roots of sevdah with rock colours on the acoustic Western guitar, classical accents on nylon strings, simple oriental lines and gentle shades of blues.
Repertoire
Classic Sevdah songs form the core of the programme. Alongside them, selected Macedonian pieces appear as well. As a result, both styles fit naturally into the acoustic setting. Because of this, the concert feels traditional and modern at the same time.
Trio interaction
This trio plays with clarity and care.
• Željka Antelj shapes the emotional core with her voice.
• Adam Weisman adds light percussion grooves and textures.
• Reuf’s guitar holds harmony, rhythm and many small accents.
Together, they create a personal musical story. Short themes return, change and grow. Furthermore, the open sound makes every detail easy to hear.
Concert Experience
Audiences can expect an intimate evening shaped by atmosphere, expression and the collective musical identity of the trio. The performance honours the roots of sevdah while offering a clear, modern entry point into the tradition. Although the re‑compositions and arrangements originate from Reuf, the music unfolds fully only through the interplay with Željka and Adam — three musicians creating one coherent sound world, each voice essential to the whole and each contributing to the emotional depth of the performance.
